Fellow Illinoisans,
Student loan debt has surpassed the amount of credit card debt in America. In 2014, the average student in Illinois finished college with over $28,000 in student loan debt, and more than 2/3 of students graduated college with loans.
Many former students are unable to buy a home, start a family, or save for retirement because of the student loan debt they are struggling to pay back.
