Poland’s Grzegorz Bierecki has been elected chairman of the World Council of Credit Union at its conference in Ottawa, Canada.
Members of the World Council include regional and national credit union associations, cooperative associations and business service organizations in 101 countries, with some 200 million members worldwide.
Grzegorz Bierecki is the founder of the National Association of Cooperative Savings and Credit Unions in Poland, popularly known as SKOK.
Bierecki is also a senator for the Biała Podlaska region in Poland’s upper house of parliament.
The credit association serves 2.6 million households, its total assets exceeding 4 billion euros.
