Koncern Samsung zaprezentował podczas odbywających się w Hiszpanii targów Mobile World Congress (MWC) dwa nowe flagowe smartfony - Galaxy S6 i Galaxy S6 Edge. Od poprzednich modeli wyróżnia je m.in. nowa obudowa wykonana z metalu i szkła.
Agencja Associated Press informuje, że smartfony trafią do sprzedaży na amerykańskim rynku w kwietniu. Południowokoreański producent nie ujawnił jednak ich ceny.
Oba urządzenia wyglądają bardzo podobnie, z tą różnicą, że model Galaxy S6 Edge ma zakrzywione krawędzie, dzięki czemu użytkownik ma dostęp do dodatkowych funkcji wyświetlacza AMOLED o przekątnej 5,1 cala. Za działanie smartfonów odpowiada system operacyjny Android Lollipop 5.0.
Wprowadzając metalową obudową Samsugn zrezygnował nie tylko z plastikowego wykończenia, ale także z możliwości wyjmowania baterii i podłączania dodatkowych kart pamięci microSD. Oba modele mają za to funkcję ładowania bezprzewodowego oraz możliwość podłączenia ich do urządzenia wirtualnej rzeczywistości - Gear VR. Galaxy S6 i Galaxy S6 Edge wyposażone są w główny aparat fotograficzny o matrycy 16 megapikseli z możliwością nagrywania filmów w jakości 4K. Dodatkowy obiektyw (5 megapikseli) zamontowany jest z przodu telefonu. Producent zainstalował także czytniki linii papilarnych, które mają zwiększyć bezpieczeństwo użytkowników.
Nowe urządzenia mają posiadać także funkcję płatności bezgotówkowych, które wprowadził konkurent Samsunga firma Apple w swoim smartfonie iPhone 6.
Podczas corocznych targów MWC w Barcelonie najwięksi producenci sprzętu elektronicznego prezentują swoje najnowsze produkty, takie jak smartfony, tablety, urządzenia do obsługi tzw. inteligentnych mieszkań.
Według danych Strategy Analytics udział Samsunga w rynku smartfonów na świecie wyniósł w ub. roku 24,7 proc. Koncern sprzedał 317,2 mln tych urządzeń. (PAP)
