Kopacz pays tribute to Kiev's Euromaidan victims

Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz laid a wreath on Monday morning in tribute to the victims of the anti-government clashes of February 2014 on Independence Square.

Kopacz is in the Ukrainian capital to provide advice on the forging of new democratic institutions in the country.
Prior to talks with President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Kopacz paid her respects to the over 100 people who died in the Kiev clashes, the vast majority of them civilian protesters.
The Polish prime minister is accompanied on her visit by several ministers, as well as the heads of various Polish institutions.
Rafał Trzaskowski, Poland's minister for European affairs, has stressed that Ukraine is a strategic partner and hence it is of the utmost importance to help the country bring to fruition a wide range of reforms. (nh)
