Poland handed another extradition request for Roman Polanski

The Paris-born director has been fighting extradition charges over a 1977 statutory rape case in the US.

The request was filed with the prosecutor’s office in Krakow, where Polanski is preparing an upcoming film on the life of French officer Alfred Dreyfus.

“As representatives of Mr Polanski, we confirm that we have knowledge that a request for his extradition has been received, but do not know its contents and therefore we cannot comment on it,” said defence lawyer Jan Stachowicz.

This is the second time in three months that the US has attempted to extradite Polanski from Poland. (rg)
