Institutions throughout Poland receive bomb threats

The Warsaw Stock Exchange was evacuated, Monday morning, after institutions across Poland received bomb threats, with up to 54 buildings in the Polish capital receiving threatening emails.

The WSE building, plus Customs Office and other institutions connected to the tax authorities in the capital received security threats, spokeswoman at Warsaw's police HQ Edyta Adamus has said in a statement.

“Around 54 institutions in the Warsaw area received similar emails,” she said.

TVP public television reports that the emails also mention the Ebola virus.

Public institutions in the cities of Krakow in the south, Iława in the north east and Inowroclaw in the north also received threatening emails on Monday morning, according to the TVN 24 broadcaster.

The naszemiasto.pl web site based in Gdansk, northern Poland, reports that 12 institutions in the city received the emails, with buildings in the city of Olsztyn also being evacuated after receiving threatening messages.

Last week, the Warsaw Stock Exchange web site came under cyber attack, with accompanying messages mentioning “Allah” and “revenge for attacks on our country”.

No explosive devices have so far been found in buildings receiving bomb threats. (pg)
