Dreamliner makes emergency landing in Glasgow

A Polish LOT Dreamliner 787 from Chicago to Warsaw was forced to make an emergency landing at Glasgow airport in Scotland, Friday, after the captain noticed the smell of smoke on board.

The plane, which made the unscheduled landing in Glasgow at 12.35 CET, was met by emergency services.
The cause of the reported smoke on board is not known, Polish Radio reports, with LOT spokeswoman Barbara Pijanowsk-Kuras only informing that the emergency landing was required in accordance with safety procedures.
One passenger on board the Dreamliner has said there was no panic among passengers as the flight was diverted to Glasgow.
"The only thing that was stressful was that when all this started we were still over the Atlantic, about 20 minutes from the mainland,” the passenger going by the name of Jacek told the TVN24 news station.
In 2013, the entire fleet of Boeing 787s were grounded for three months after battery problems caused smoke alarms on several flights. (pg)
