President-elect Andrzej Duda receives act confirming victory

Wojciech Hermeliński, chairman of Poland's National Electoral Commission, passed over the documentation to Duda during a ceremony at the former royal palace of Wilanów, Warsaw.
The president-elect stressed that his aim is “to serve the whole nation, wherever possible.
He argued that Poland “badly needs a sense of community and the rebuilding of trust, both that which is within society itself, and between our countrymen and the authorities.”
As the candidate of the conservative Law and Justice party, Duda won the second round of the election with 51.55 percent of the vote, defeating outgoing president Bronisław Komorowski, who garnered 48.45 percent.
Friday's ceremony was attended by the president-elect's wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda, and his daughter Kinga.
Leader of Law and Justice Jarosław Kaczyński was also among those present at Wilanów on Friday, as were defeated presidential candidates including Magdalena Ogórek and Grzegorz Braun.
From the government, Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz attended, with Duda making the gesture of kissing the premier's hand. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Tomasz Siemoniak was also present. (nh)
