The Grand Christmas Aid Orchestra (WOSP) charity foundation collected funds for child rescue and eldercare equipment at its 22nd Grand Final on Sunday.
According to WOSP head Jurek Owsiak, WOSP collected funds for specialistic child rescue equipment including electronic tomographs and diagnostic stations, ultrasonographs and X-ray equipment.
Money was also collected for elderly care to "help ensure adequate medical care for senior citizens".
Funds were collected by some 120,000 volunteers during open air concerts, fairs and auctions, including e-auctions and record-breaking or sports events across Poland as well as in many European cities, the U.S. and Canada, Afghanistan (Ghazni base) and Dubai, among others.
By 4:30 p.m. the orchestra collected PLN 9.6 million.
Last year the charity organisation gathered over PLN 50 million for child medical equipment and eldercare equipment.
Over 21 years of its activity WOSP bought over 20 thousand medical devices for Polish hospitals and clinics for a total PLN 450 million.
