On Thursday, a cornerstone was laid under one of the centres in Wroclaw. Each centre will cover the area of 95,000 square meters and employ 2,000 people. Periodically, the centre will employ additional 3,000 people.

According to Amazon board Poland has been chosen as a locality for the undertaking owing to its geographical location, access to perfect employment base and close distance from key markets.

Amazon’s Director of Fullfillment Operations Europe Timothy Collins told a news conference on Thursday that the implementation of such huge projects required strenuous work of a number of people, firms and local authorities. He added that owing to them its (Amazon’s–PAP) investments worth millions of euros and creating thousands of jobs have become true. He added that the undertaking underlines growing significance of the Polish economy and the region in the world.

Deputy Economy Minister Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik said that the size of the undertaking went by far beyond expectations Poland could have of any investor.

The Polish logistic centres will be included in Amazon’s European network. Initially they will handle orders from Germany with the entire Europe being the target. (PAP)
