If you owe overdue fines to the Clerk of Court when you pay during Amnesty Week, October 5th – 9th, 2015, collection fees will be waived, announced Dorothy Brown, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County. The Clerk’s Office is offering extended office hours downtown, in the suburban districts and at the criminal courthouse, pay by phone services, and acceptance of partial payments during Amnesty Week to benefit the thousands of individuals who want to settle delinquent accounts.
“This is a great opportunity for customers to pay past due fines minus the collection fees that are normally attached, thereby saving themselves a substantial amount of money,” Clerk Brown pointed out. “It is also the best time to pay any past due fines or fees owed to the Clerk’s Office to avoid the possibility of additional penalties.”
Individuals may qualify to get their driving licenses reinstated when they pay all of their overdue traffic fines in full during Amnesty Week.
For the five days of Amnesty Week at the Clerk of Court, amnesty payments will be accepted during extended business hours, beginning at 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The extended hours outside of the regular Clerk’s Office’s hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. are ONLY for paying delinquent payments. Customers may make payments in full or part, by cash, check, money order or credit card.

- Richard J. Daley Center, all divisions and the Accounting Department, Room 1005: 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- All Suburban District Clerk’s Offices, 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Criminal Courthouse, 2600 S. California Ave., 5th floor: 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- To pay by phone: Call (888) 497-8701; give the customer service representative the provider ID number 22530 and state that you are making an Amnesty payment.
