Tablets and smartphones grow very popular in Poland - daily

In five years nearly one in three Poles will own a tablet and most Polish consumers will have a smartphone, the Rzeczpospolita daily wrote on Monday quoting a PwC survey.

Tablets and smartphones are much more popular in Poland than in other Central and East European countries. And this trend may prevail, the daily wrote.

According to PwC, in 2015 Polish consumers will have more smartphones than traditional mobile phones. In 2018 their number may reach 44 million and three in four Polish cell phone users will own a smartphone.

At the end of 2014 some 4 million Poles will own a tablet, up from ca. 2 million last year. And in 2018 their number will grow to 12 million, the daily wrote.

If this forecast comes true, in the coming five years the saturation in the smartphone and tablet market in Poland will be higher than in all Central and Eastern Europe. At the end of 2014, 9.7 percent of Poles and 8.1 percent of people in other Central and East European countries will have a tablet. In 2018 it will be 30.7 and 27.2 percent respectively, the daily wrote. (PAP)
