Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski is among the recipients of the 2013 Global Citizen Awards given by the Atlantic Council, an American think-tank which promotes constructive leadership and engagement in international affairs.
The Council’s statement says that Mr Komorowski has been awarded “for his leadership that has not only touched Poland, but also the European Union, its Eastern neighborhood, and the international community.”
“From his tireless fight against Communism to strengthening Poland’s growing economy, he has become a beacon of democracy and economic achievement throughout Europe,” the statement reads.
The Polish head of state will receive the award at a ceremony in New York on 26 September from the hands of Zbigniew Brzezinski, Former US National Security Advisor and a member of the Atlantic Council’s International Advisory Board.
The other recipients of the Global Citizen Awards are Queen Rania of Jordan and the world-famous conductor Seiji Ozawa.
