Do 31 wzrosła liczba ofiar śmiertelnych środowej katastrofy samolotu linii TransAsia Airways, który wkrótce po starcie wpadł do rzeki niedaleko Tajpej - poinformował tajwański Zarząd Lotnictwa Cywilnego.
Na pokładzie maszyny znajdowało się 58 osób, w tym pięciu członków załogi. Uratowano 15 osób. Akcja ratunkowa trwa.
Przyczyny katastrofy są ustalane. Samolot turbośmigłowy ATR 72-600 najprawdopodobniej - jak podaje agencja Kyodo - stracił prędkość po starcie z lotniska Songshan w Tajpej.
Dostarczone przez jednego ze świadków zdjęcia z kamery zainstalowanej w samochodzie pokazują, że samolot zahaczył o estakadę i jadącą po niej taksówkę, a następnie wpadł do rzeki Keelung. Według agencji Reutera ekipy ratunkowe próbują wydostać ludzi z wnętrza częściowo zanurzonego kadłuba.
Większość pasażerów stanowili obywatele ChRL. Samolot leciał na wyspy Jinmen (Cinmen).
W czerwcu 2014 roku 48 osób zginęło, gdy samolot turbośmigłowy tych samych linii TransAsia Airways rozbił się przy podchodzeniu do lądowania na wyspie Penghu na zachodzie Tajwanu. (PAP)
